You can help make Cleveland Heights bicycle friendly by donating to or becoming a member of the Cleveland Heights Bicycle Coalition! All proceeds go toward paying for events and campaigns that help strengthen the cycling community. In just the first few months since the Coalition’s inception, our organization has:
- Successfully petitioned the city to install sharrows on Euclid Heights Boulevard and Edgehill Road, with three other streets to be finished by November, 2011 (Plain Dealer)
- Co-sponsored “Walk to School” day
- Launched the initial stages of improving Cleveland Heights Bicycle Parking
- Coordinated with University Circle Incorporated (UCI) to research opportunities to improve cycling connectivity between Cleveland Heights and University Circle.
- Applied for grants to help the cycling community
- and more!
Operating an advocacy organization is expensive. By the time we register to become a non-profit organization, we’ll have spent over $1,000. In 2010, for instance, the Cleveland Heights Bicycle incurred the following costs:
- $200 on print advertising and education material
- $125 to be recognized as an organization by the state of Ohio
- $250 for opening a banking account
- $84 per year for website hosting
- Over $25 in other small costs, such as personal printing and postage.
- And it costs $450 to register with the IRS to become a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
A donation of $5, $20, $100 or more makes a huge difference. Donate now by clicking the orange icon on the right sidebar, and encourage friends and family to do the same!
